About Creative Juices Computing

        How it all started

As happens with a lot of small or home businesses it starts from a hobby or personal pursuit.  Our first

computer was a big purchase and using it was scary as we had no-one to ask for help. But gradually over

the years I learned how to fix things and ended up being the person that everyone came to when they

had computer problems. My office and accounting background helped with many programs and I also took

courses at a local college. But I found my mentor and 'saver of my sanity' in the form of Barry Leahy at

Computer Care Wanganui. A top bloke  who had no illusions about the idiocy of people (yep, ME

included!) who willingly imparted his knowledge to myself and others. He had more stories than you’ve had

hot dinners and his clients, like myself, were grateful for his time, experience and care. It is with great

sadness that I report that he passed away this year, and he is very sorely missed.

But I have forged new 'techy' relationships with two businesses in town - Technoman in Wanganui East,

and Cohen's Business Centre. If there is something I cannot diagnose, fix, or otherwise resolve, it is

either of these businesses that I will send you to.

My qualifications and Fields of Expertise…

My field of knowledge was with Basic Computing and software and peripherals like printers, and cameras
etc but it has ballooned to cover hard drive recorders, TV's, GPSr, and of course smartphones and tablets,

among a growing amount of technology on offer.

I do not have the in-depth knowledge of hardware required to take apart computers or fix more ‘technical’

under-the-hood issues, but what I do have is a good solid knowledge of typical technology user problems &

issues. And, more importantly I am proficient in problem-solving no matter what piece of technology is

        put in front of me.

It’s about the right person for the right job. Just as you wouldn’t get a plumber to put in new carpet, I won’t

tell you I can install a new hard drive or remove a rootkit from your computer. But I can help you with a

myriad of other annoyances and problems that you as a user will face – from resetting your email servers to

advising on backup methods, producing presentations & documents, or setting up that new phone or tablet.

All within the comfort of your own home and I'm much better looking than your average plumber!

For the things that are not within my field, I will refer you to the two businesses listed above and will (if

necessary liaise with them about your issue, so that you get the best, and most appropriate service from

everyone who is servicing your device.

        My official computing qualifications are:

National Certificate in Computing Level 3

        NCEA Level 3

        NCEA Level 2

Certificate in Computer Applications Level 2 (Waikato Institute of Technology)
National Certificate in Computing Level 2

So…be you an older home user just emailing family or doing a UCOL course, a homeschooling mum who
needs to give her kids a start with computer use, or a seasoned user who’s just gotten stuck and can’t
find a way to fix it …give me a call.

If I can’t help you myself, I’m sure to have some options for you to resolve your issues or someone else who

        can help.

          Cheers
