Client Testimonials Web Design My business started out being Web Design not setup/repair & tutoring. As time went on I realised that the (collaborative) way I design required a substantial amount of time to be devoted to the client & and the job - as it should be - but that with my family commitments increasing, I could not in all good conscience take on jobs when I was concerned about my ability to devote the time I deemed necessary for a successful partnership and outcome. So, for the time being any design work is being considered on a case-by-case basis. My focus is more on
personal or small business wanting a 'brochure' site, an online presence, rather than large database or
retail-type sites.
I do like to design 'on-the-fly' in collaboration with my client. I don't like generic sites, because anyone can download a website template, make a few changes and be up and running, but look like a hundred other sites on the web. I like my sites to be different. You might have noticed that from my own site. My goal is to have the site represent 'at a glance' the person or business that is behind it.
How to build your own website
Even if
I don't design a site for you, I can help with the nuts and bolts of how Frontpage works (that's
the program I use) in order to design your own website. I had client who was having some difficulty
with the program she was using and she was ready to throw in the towel and give up on the idea of
designing her own website. I had one appointment with her in person, then tutored her entirely by
email until her site was up and running. I know she's very pleased with her site, and it is proving very advantageous in her business. How to get a domain name and have your site hosted I can also explain how to get yourself or your business a domain name (i.e. www.yourbusiness.co.nz), and how to go about getting your site hosted and all that surrounds your hosting formats and pricing options. Search engine optimization There are many websites devoted to this subject and many companies will take your money for performing this 'search engine optimization' but much of it is common sense marketing, much can be found on the net from researching reputable sites yourself as well as the benefits of linking and submitting your url (your web address) to search engine sites. There are a few little tips & tricks that are handy to know. Mini Web Workshop With the many facets of designing, building & hosting a website, I have written a Mini Web Workshop for any individual or business who is thinking about a website for themselves or their business. There are some key questions to ask yourself when it comes to your website, and having some answers to those questions is pivotal to knowing what you want your website to look like, who you are targeting it to, and what you want the website to achieve. In my Mini Web Workshop, we cover all the issues, like what software to use, who will be designing, what domain name needs you have, web hosting budgets, search engine optimization and marketing.
